Setting: Sarah is groggy and has just barely gotten out of bed because her dog decided Saturday would be the best day this week to NOT sleep late. Sarah's Dad has just returned from running errands.
Sarah's Dad: I just saw a bunch of Alabama fans at the gas station.
Sarah: Alabama fans?
Sarah's Dad: Alabama fans, going to the game.
Sarah: Game?
Sarah's Dad: Alabama-Florida. This is gonna be the biggest game of the year.
Sarah: What?
Sarah's Dad: Alabama fans at the gas station, on their way to the Georgia Dome for the Alabama-Florida game.
Sarah: Georgia Dome?
Sarah's Dad: Do you really not know what I'm talking about or did you become a Villanova fan or something?
For the record, I knew the SEC Championship game was today, it just that my dad talking about Alabama fans at a gas station surprisingly doesn't register at that ungodly hour.
And speaking of SEC schools, I just went online to order a copy of my transcript from UGA. It was like entering a time capsule - I haven't been into that system in a LONG time and everything was exactly as I left it. Kind of made me wistful.

Last year Shreveport was over run by Bama fans as they flocked in for the Independence Bowl against Colorado. We didn't go to the game, even though the stadium is about five miles from the house.
During the game one of the announcers made a comment about one of Bama's loses last year was to the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and how Bama fans coming to the game via I-20 had to drive through Monroe.
This year the Independence Bowl will feature the real Bulldogs (LA Tech). I know Sarah, I know, but my son goes to LA Tech, and I've been a LA Tech fan since I was stationed here in the Air Force over thirty years ago. (GO TECH!)
(I had to say that, years ago, when I was in Helen, GA, I was wearing a LA Tech Bulldog t-shirt. The lady at the vistor center said, "The only real bulldogs are from Georgia.")
I'll have to agree with the lady lady in Helen!
I actually live right off I-20 in the county before you get to Atlanta and unfortunately we get our fair share of Alabama folks! They aren't my favorite.
That game was disappointing. I just have two words for Florida: Hotty Toddy! At least Bama beat Ole Miss ;op
So glad I swallowed my sweet tea before I read this... why can I just hear him saying that??
Roxy - I couldn't pull for either team! It was like two equal evils.
Jessica - I knew it would take someone who knows him to truly appreciate that conversation LOL
