Fantasy Football - Week 2

Well, it's two weeks into the football season and I have, so far, shut out the competition. Not only have I won both weeks (I think I've already won more this year than I did all last year) but I've done it without using Peyton. I wasn't sure what would happen in the "Manning Bowl" so I put Hasselbeck in for week one which would seem like a big mistake considering his numbers, but my competition put in Trent Green...who left the field with a concussion.

This week, I used Drew Brees. I planned to put Peyton in, but for stupid reasons, I didn't...against Houston. I know I know. While Drew had a great week and I still won by 22 points, Peyton was at his best. He had over 400 yards and at least three touchdowns which if you don't know the game, is not exactly something a QB does every week...Peyton is one of the few that puts up numbers like that on a fairly regular basis and those are the sort of numbers that put me way on top for the first fantasy season I played (this is the third.) So while Brees did extremely well, Peyton did better. Eli put up great numbers this week too. I don't think I'm going to have any problems with my quarterbacks this year unless they all get hurt.

As for the other players, I stupidly put in Warrick Dunn and Alge Crumpler. Why, I couldn't tell you...though Dunn got a lot of yards. Have I mentioned I hate Michael Vick? But, as I said, I still managed to win with Marvin Harrison and my Johnson guys.

And I just have to add, not only did I win fantasy, but I also won the picks this week because I was the only person to pick Jacksoville over Pittsburgh! Here's to a better season than last! I hardly ever win the picks anymore...too many personal conflicts of interest!

Fantasy Football '06

Well, yesterday was my fantasy football draft...I got some old familiar faces and some new guys from which I have no idea what to expect. The only major person I wanted and didn't get was Shaun Alexander, but oh well. Anyway, here is my list. I was able to pick 20 guys, no matter the position.

QB's:
1. Peyton Manning
2. Matt Hasselbeck
3. Eli Manning
4. Drew Brees

RB's:
1. Larry Johnson
2. Tiki Barber
3. Lamont Jordan
4. Warrick Dunn
5. Rudi Johnson
6. Brian Westbrook

WR's:
1. Steve Smith
2. Marvin Harrison
3. Chad Johnson
4. Reggie Wayne
5. Joe Horn
6. Plaxico Burress
7. Chris Chambers

TE's:
1. Jeremy Shockey
2. Alge Crumpler
3. Dallas Clark

QB: Of course I got Peyton and I wasn't too concerned with my other quarterbacks, because unless he gets hurt, I'll play him most. Matt H. will probably be my main backup. I'm really looking to New Orleans to have a good season this year...don't quote me or anything.

RB: It's going to kill me not to write E. James in one of my RB slots this year, but I just couldn't do it. Watch Arizona become awesome, but I couldn't take that chance. Tiki is really my only familiar face in that category. I can't believe I picked Warrick Dunn...that goes against my no Falcons, no Patriots rule, but oh well. I just wish I could have gotten Shaun Alexander.

WR: I've had Chad Johnson and Marvin Harrison every year and they do good things for me. Joe Horn wasn't rated all that great, but I really think this is going to be a good year for the Saints like I said. Steve Smith I was pretty happy with...I'm probably going to do a lot of rotating here. I was tempted to pick Terrell Owens, but you just can't trust him.

TE: Quite frankly, I don't put a lot of stock into tight ends, as I'm sure most people don't, so again I broke the no Falcon rule. I was going to try for Antonio Gates, but I was saving my tight end picks for the end and lost hiim. I think I got a good all around group though. No one picked Tony Gonzalez...maybe a little bit of a shocker. I think I've had him two years in a row and I think he's overrated. He never does much for me. But I always seem to put the wrong tight end in on the wrong day.
